- Breakfast and lunch still low-residue
- From dinner onward: clear liquids + soluble fibre (20–30 g psyllium/Metamucil/Benefiber spread throughout the day)
Day −2 (48 h before)
- Clear liquids only + another 2–3 doses of soluble fibre every 8 h (to “sweep” everything from the transverse colon)
Day −1 (24 h before)
- Water + electrolytes only
- Many add an afternoon colon-cleansing prep (Moviprep, PicoPrep, Suprep, etc.) — everything comes out water-clear
Result: The bowel is literally empty all the way up to the ileum. Perfect for full-arm or extreme sessions, but you will feel weak and hungry.
- Beginners should NEVER start with #2 or #3 — always begin with low-residue.
- 2–4 mg Imodium (loperamide) the night before helps “lock everything in” if you have a fast gut.
- Avoid NSAIDs (ibuprofen, aspirin) 48 h before — they increase bleeding risk. Paracetamol/acetaminophen is fine.
- Re-feed gently after the session: start with white rice, banana, toast.
